Rebase BlueFin Linux to KDE

hello!

is it possible to rebase bluefin linux to kde, cosmic or 9wm instead of just gnome? thank you

greetings,

You might want to consult the Rebase Guide.

That is something we strongly don’t recommend. Both Gnome and KDE share some of the gtk etc configs and rebasing from Gnome to KDE (or vice-versa) will propapbly cause strange issues with themeas and some configs.

Yes, one of the first sentences in the guide says " Do not rebase between different desktop environments."

the only problem i know is when to switch window/screen target, it’s possible, in the case the graphics cards is not initiated, the gpu grabs into the grub loader into nothing space, switching off the login screen manager or window manager results into a nihil space bricking of the initframs and the system doesn’t boot anymore. that’s why it’s better to use proprietary software, or firmware integrated software like the window manager switcher framework on the loginscreen, than the system command features like systemctl, it’s more of that of a problem

okay,… but where are the other rebase channels. universal blue bazzit before the restructure had not just budgie or cinnamon, it could switch to bluefin or elbish obluesque and a couple others. the bluefin rebase wiki article just consists of functional (stable, instable release, testing release etc) and has no variety to play!

Bluefin doesn’t support rebasing to other images, if you want to do that that’s all up to the user to do manually.

okayy, so just gnome and kde soon and cosmic later right? hahaha, i should have known and kept with the infrastructure and kernel classes back then ahahah

soo there’s absolutely not possible to get bluefin fedora running sway distribution??

Someone would need to make one, Bluefin is a GNOME experience – someone may already be making one but I’m not sure.

i can’t argue with that. i know the fedora group, i know bluefin from indoor data. bluefin has over 20 till 30 different distribution systems. bluefin itself. not fedora. it’s bluefin having 56 i think distributable systems of different systems than gnome.

Sorry but can you rephrase that? I don’t understand what you mean.

We currently provide Bluefin (gnome) and Aurora (KDE) images and Bazzite (gnome/KDE)
