Problem downloading Bazzite iso for ROG Ally (KDE)

Hi, just installed Bazzite on my Legion GO and I love it! And I like it so much that I want to install it on my ROG Ally as well. However, I can’t manage to download the iso for the Ally (KDE version) on the Bazzite website. In windows I get the message ‘Can’t download. No file’ and on a Mac I get an iso of only 8 mb. Does anyone have this problem too or maybe a solution? Or could this be temporary and I should be patient until it works again?

It seems to work for me. I downloaded the file from the following link and it worked.
https://download.bazzite.gg/bazzite-ally-stable.iso

Thanks, this link downloads an iso (on Mac) but it’s only 8.4 mb. It should be around 6/7 gb right?

Ps the GNOME version does download properly.

I found a mirror on the internet archive. Based on this post, it seems official. The archive has both a torrent and a direct download link, so choose whichever works better for you.

Internet Archive link: bazzite-ally : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

Note: The internet archive link seems to be of the previous release of the iso, not the current iso. I think it probably should be fine to try and use this iso and then update, but I cannot be sure.

Alternatively, perhaps try downloading the file with a cli downloader like curl, aria2c, or wget. That or maybe try some sort of vpn?

I would honestly recommend rebasing from Fedora Kinoite/Silverblue over this method now. Follow this guide for that:

The torrents are no longer a supported method unfortunately.

Currently downloading :+1:t3:

@nicknamenamenick Thanks, sounds like a good solution too. Out of curiosity, what, if any, is the disadvantage of downloading an iso of a previous version and then updating?

There shouldn’t be. I would recommend before finishing the “Bazzite Portal” step on a first-boot to enter:

rpm-ostree update

Wait for it to finish (it may take a while) and then enter:

ujust update

Also wait again, and then reboot. Then complete the Bazzite Portal.

Again many thanks, it will undoubtedly work out now, one way or the other :grinning:

Worked like a charm🙏

I ended up rebasing from kinoite and getting bazzite to work on ROG Ally but now I’m having issues installing simpledecky and HHD due to plugin_loader.service not found. anyone have a fix?

Hi Guys, i know this thread is getting old but I wanted to point on I had the same issue earlier on.
After waiting for a while, the bazzite website offered the download again without error but instead of providing the iso for the ally, it provides the one for the steam deck (bazzite-deck-stable vs bazzite-ally-stable ). The only way to get the ally iso is through a direct link like the one provided in this thread. May I ask if this is a bug on the bazzite website? I tried an install with both isos, and using the ally-stable works amazing but using the deck-stable gave a system freeze whenever the kde desktop mode quick search is used.

bazzite-ally used to be for the ally and only includes the ROG control center for Desktop Mode. bazzite-deck is what we use. That bug may have been due to a regression and could be fixed by now, but if it isn’t then try GNOME and report it.
