Choose different path on Steam

Hi everyone. I’ve just installed Bazzite but I’m struggling to choose a different path to install and read games.

On other distros, I do as follows:

• install Steam from flatpak
• install Flatseal and choose the path to my games
• if it’s NTFS, I use this guide: Using a NTFS disk with Linux and Windows · ValveSoftware/Proton Wiki · GitHub (in particular with the compatdata symlink and lowntfs-3g part)
• everything works

On Bazzite, this doesn’t happen. I’ve also tried to install Steam from flathub, use flatseal (that doesn’t work on Bazzite’s native Steam, that’s why I’ve tried the flatpak), use “flatpak run com.whateverwasthepath.vale”, but nothing works, ever.

Is this simply impossible on Bazzite? If so, will it be better on any other Universal Blue or Fedora Atomic system?

Have you tried the Auto Mounting Secondary Drives?

For instance I have my games stored on a secondary drive and I used Gnome Disks to set proper permissions for access.

Please note as well that we do not support NTFS as a partition type for gaming under any circumstance, same with flatpak Steam.

Properly mounted external drives can be selected as steam library paths. Same as any normal install of Steam. The guide above should be all you need so long as you use a supported partition type.
