I just bought a XBox-Controller to play some games. After a firmware-update I can connect it via Bluetooth (cable-connection was working ootb).
I am playing with steam.
If I connect the controller via cable I can play the TombRaider-games with native controller-support. But with BT-connection the controller behaves totally wrong. I can not look up and down with the sticks, but RT brings the view down… Buttons are swapped, etc. I use the native controller-support of the games, not the steam-controller-thing.
This behaviour exists in TombRaider II and III (the ones from 2017….).
With other games (also with native controller support) I can use the controller as expected. Even with the controller-test in KDE Plasma and in Steam all buttons behave as expected.
Do you know this? Can you give me some hints how to play TR with the XBox-Controller vie BT? (With the Playstation5-Controller I can play those with BT, but I want to play with the XBox-controller).
Thanks for the hint. I tested it, but it did not help.
What I found is, that steam by default installs the linux-version of the game. I just activated the compartibiliy-layer and set it to proton-experimental. So it installs the Windows-version. With the windows-version the controller works as expected. It seems as if there is a problem with the linux-layer?!
Just one downside: By switching to the windows-version my savegames were lost…. Lucky me, I tested with TR III (which I havent really started now ). So I’ll play TR II with the cable and start TR III with the Windows-version….
Strange thing, that windows-games run better than linux-versions
Hey dude, technically you should be able to restore your saves if they’re saved locally (which it seems they are). Proton creates a prefix folder which probably moved the save folder there. If you can find your save folder from the native linux version, copy and paste it to the Proton prefix folder, you should be good to go.
For Steam, prefix folders should be in steamlibrary/steamapps/compatdata folder if I’m not mistaken. Go to the folder with the game’s APPID number and look around, you should find it before long. Hope this helps
Steam shows “2478970” as the appid of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered and “2525380” for Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered.
I searched for the corresponding directories, but could not find them. In the end it’s ok, cause I have just finished TR II and am starting TR III from the beginning now
