Unfortunately I am unable to access bazzite.gg without a VPN, and VPN speed and stability is not enough to download 7 GB. Are there any mirrors? I am probably looking for “bazzite-gnome-nvidia-open”. Although what does “open” mean in it?
- This guide has instructions to rebase from Fedora Kinoite/Silverblue (depending on the desktop environment you want) as the only other official “alternate download” method.
-nvidia-open
images use the new Nvidia open kernel modules (not drivers) but is only supported for newer Nvidia GPUs.
thank you! Is that part good or bad? Is that faster for gaming or should I look for some other nvidia kernel modules?
It won’t affect performance. Nvidia drivers on Linux are closed source, but they recently hosted the source code openly for only the kernel modules.
If your GPU is a GTX 16xx+ series or a RTX card, use open. If it’s older and considered “legacy” by Nvidia, you can’t use the open kernel modules.
