Hello,
I installed Bazzite a little while ago and I’m having a small issue with my wired Xbox controller.
I plug it in when I start up my laptop, but when I launch a game, it isn’t recognized right away—I have to unplug it and plug it back in.
Is this normal?
Thank you for your help.
Depends on a lot factors the game, steam, and the operating system, whether steam input is enabled or not. honestly I have had that happen with windows with both my razor wolverine (xbox version), and my ps5 controller with certain games. But it sounds more like a proton or game related issue to me if its only issue when launching game. My question is what game and how are you launching it(example through steam), is the game native to linux, also is it a steam game vrs a non steam game. These things can all factor into what is causing it not to read the controller right aways after launch. If it is a steam game I would check to see in the settings to see if steam is recognizing the controller. I would also check to see if steam input is enable for the game. Not all games need it some game it being enabled can cause problems. Some games it can recognize your controller without it enabled. others it can not. If it’s a windows game it also could be related to the proton version your using.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
I bought Avatar on Steam, so that’s how I launch it. I’m using the experimental version of Proton, and I haven’t actually changed any settings.
