Hi everyone, I’ve been the happy owner of a Claw A8 for a few days now. I really like the device, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work so well under Windows. I’ve installed Bazzite and I’m quite happy with it. But there are a few things that don’t work properly. So my question is: Will there be full support for the A8? Like with Xbox Alliance?
I found this post via Google search, but to anyone who may find this article the same way, it’s been 5 months since the original poster’s post, and the MSI Claw still suffers from sleep mode issues, WiFi problems, no gyro support, and other minor glitches/annoyances.
I’ve asked myself (and searched through threads on Discord and here) and for the most part anything asking about A8 support goes unanswered. Competitors such as CachyOS are in the same boat where A8 support isn’t discussed and core functionality is missing.
Windows is… well, it’s Windows.
Absolutely adore what the Bazzite team does and what they’ve accomplished so far, just a little sad to see our A8s in this state for so long, and with the Legion Go 2 being literally twice the price, simply purchasing another Z2 extreme device isn’t really plausible for most people.
Hi, I have bought MSI Claw A8 in March 2026, immediately installed bazzite on it, I found that most of the problems described above have been resolved. What I have noticed though, is that the tdp controls are very misalligned, the handheld daemon profiles are 15W/20W and 28W, however, you need to add about double of that for actual use. My main issue is that power consumption, I would be okay with 15W being changed to 10W with all boost states being set to that profile’s Wattage, same for 20W. The 28W should be changed to 30W and boost states being then unhooked for the best actual turbo state.
Everything else seems to be working fine, with maybe the keyboard being a little bit hit and miss, but sleep, display, adaptive sync all work fine.
Only bug known associated with sleep: when waking up from sleep, regardless of duration, 4/5 times you get a screen flash of 1 frame then black screen and the device going back to sleep immediately, as far as I know it’s not resolved yet, but I don’t think there was a bug report submitted for it. Works brilliant with dual boot and tdp controls are better on windows as HHD doesn’t allow you to set manual boost states.
