Plasma: Some apps not scaling properly after update, blurry

Hi guys and happy Thursday!

I did a big ol update yesterday on my gaming rig and now a bunch of my apps are blurry.

(Running KDE Plasma)

Notably, this only happens when scaling up. At 100%, everything looks fine. I tried 125, 150, and 200. The affected apps look as if they are rendering at 100% size, and are then just enlarged. This was working fine before the update.

Affected apps:

  • Signal (flatpak)
  • Steam (part of the image? preinstalled)
  • Epic Games Launcher (flatpak as well I think)
  • Discord (flatpak)
  • Brave (flatpak)
  • Joplin (flatpak)
  • godot (standalone binary)

NOT affected:

  • firefox (flatpak I think? came preinstalled)
  • terminal (part of the image? came preinstalled)
  • other terminals: (kitty, ghostty, both layered with rpm-ostree)
  • KDE apps like settings, files, etc

Anybody got similar issues? Any clue what might be going on or ideas on how to troubleshoot? I’m not even sure if this is a plasma issue or something to do with wayland or something else entirely.

Much love,
Marty

You can go to the display settings and check the bottom part of the settings panel for this setting:

I think the upper selection is the KDE default, not sure if Bazzite has changed this. you can experiment which one works better for you.

Thanks inffy!

I guess I could have tried a little harder to search the display settings. Not sure how I missed that :person_facepalming:

I’m 110% sure didn’t change this myself, but who knows maybe I’ve been sleepwalking. Looks like nobody else has the issue.

Have a good one!
