Open RGB Inquiry

Hi,

I understand that this is more of a flatpak issue that it is from Bazzite. but the version that it is right now in flatpak is version 0.9 from 2023 and the latest RC is 1.0rc2 (09/2025).

I was wondering if there is a way to have this latest one installed since I have recent hardware and it believe it is not recognized by the older version.

Thanks!

Just checked and they have appimage version. Just download it from openrgb website and install using GearLever. Gear Lever comes preinstalled with Bazzite.

A couple tips about appimage:

When you install it using Gear Lever, you can click “Add to App Menu” (I don’t remember what it’s exactly called) Gear Lever will automatically add it to Start menu. That way you can create shortcuts, add it to task bar etc.

It will also move the appimage file you have downloaded to /Home/Appimages folder, in case you get confused. You can find all your appimage applications there.

Appimage is fairly convenient for developers so you can see many applications delivered in appimage format. It’s essentially all the binaries, and files combined into one folder so it doesn’t mess with system files (similar to flatpak.) You are not layering anything so no need to worry about that. It’s a very clean method of delivering applications and honestly my first choice if I have the option.

Appimage and flatpak is problematic for OpenRGB as it requires udev rules that neither can install.

Oh, just checked and Bazzite has a ujust command to install openrgb, probably because of that issue you’ve mentioned.

@makkusu using that ujust command should work.
