New upstream steam update fixes 64gb deck image corruption

Ever since 3.6.12 the 64gb steam deck ALLEGEDLY doesn’t have filesystem corruption issues with it anymore, when this lands on bazzite repos the documentation, site, and github readme should be changed to support the 64gb steam deck

It’s a hack for now, so Bazzite isn’t using their workaround until a better solution is in place.

What is the hack that they have employed? Is there a way to apply it unoficially?

On Bazzite? Probably need to make a custom Bazzite image for this.

Using a queue depth of 1 doesn’t seem that hacky to me. Sure it will impact performance a bit, but perhaps btrfs will even that out somewhat.

Either way - has anyone made such a bazzite image? Couldn’t it just be a kernel flag/extra boot option on the regular image?

I might be taking a look at this on my un-upgraded 64GB deck soon.

I am testing this later tonight. It installed properly and everything, but I’m going to give it a couple more days of testing to see if everything is fixed. The issues should be fixed since it’s now upstreamed supposedly, so I will probably be editing documentation and making an announcement that the 64GB eMMC Steam Decks can work without upgrading storage!
