FW13 no longer wants to sleep re: Aurora

Hey folks,

I’ve been an Aurora user this past year, and haven’t had any issues for a very long time.

However, I recently noticed that my laptop (Framework 13 11th gen Intel) will not stay in sleep mode no matter if the lid is closed, if a command is sent, if the power button is pressed.

It basically turns the screen off, the keyboards lights go off, and then after a second, they all start up again, and I’m back at the login screen.

I don’t know when this started, but it must have been in the last week or so.

What can I check to troubleshoot this?

Looks like I found a solution, and it was not what I would have expected in a million years!

To make a long story short, as I was preparing to back up my system and start with a fresh installation of Aurora, I flashed the ISO to a USB stick.

When rebooting, the system would not “see” the drive, despite power being sent to it (then cut off). I tried different USB devices, some worked, some didn’t.

Swapped the USB modules to test if perhaps the one I was using was messed up, but that was also inconsistent.

In looking for a solution to the USB problem, I ran into a tip that said my Framework laptop now has a setting to “disconnect” the battery, which you access through the BIOS.

So, I get into the BIOS, unplug all USB devices (including the power adapter), tell it to disconnect the battery, save settings and the system shuts down completely.

After plugging it back into the power and rebooting, I tested sleep and it slept! USB ports work fine, the sleep mode has been restored, and all is well.

TL;DR: USB fault was causing the issue. Disconnected the battery through the BIOS to reset things. Laptop now sleeps.
