Fedora 42 : COSMIC Spin

Fedora 42 will feature a COSMIC spin !

This is fantastic news! Given the similar design ethos of COSMIC and GNOME, would this be offered as an option on Bluefin or a new spin like KDE / Aurora?

I guess it would be a new spin similar to Aurora and Bluefin

I’d just about give my left arm to try COSMIC on my current Bluefin without having to re-base.

Seems like COSMIC is getting some really significant attention. Looking forward to COSMICfin one day soon

I tried it the day before yesterday, but switched back to Gnome again. Currently, Gnome is simply better, more mature. Cosmic takes another year or two to really take on Gnome or KDE.

Can anyone help me understand how to rebase to these?
Sorry, I have trouble understanding the updated layout of the site. I was familiar with the old site where I was able to see all the images.
I do wonder if its just me. (Ideally, it would be a one or two clicks on the website to get rebase path. Maybe it is though)

I tried these and it did not work.
rpm-ostree rebase ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/cosmic-base-nvidia:latest
rpm-ostree rebase ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/cosmic-nvidia:latest

You want:

rpm-ostree rebase ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/cosmic:40

rpm-ostree rebase ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/cosmic-nvidia:40

@j0rge Are the 41 versions available? Also, any plans to offer the open Nvidia drivers the way SecureBlue does?

No clue, there’s nothing to plan for if no one’s sending pull requests.

Looking at the secureblue images, I am not sure which one to try. The user namespace thing is a tad confusing.

This is the secureblue community instead :

Thanks.

I gave it a try and I found the slider between secure and convenient a little too far to the secure side. Hope to see a 41 build from UB.
