Hey guys, I borrowed my brothers PS5 controller to play Jedi Survivor so that I could have the trigger feedback that’s exclusive to the PS5 controller, and while everything worked just fine, the touchpad insists on acting like a mouse, which locks me out of the intended functions of the games use of the touchpad.
I’ve already searched and haven’t come up with any Linux solutions for getting the PS5 controllers touchpad to act the way it’s intended to in games. At first I thought it was cool that I could use the touchpad as a mouse, but then I realized I can’t open the map in game because as soon as I put my finger on the touchpad it acts as a mouse.
If anyone could help me find a solution to this problem, it would be greatly appreciated!
You can check out Steam input profiles. For a few games the default input method is weird, I especially noticed this with my DualSense and Sixaxis DualShock controllers.
In Gaming Mode it’s the controller shaped button on the right side, within Game View.
Depends on whether you are on the deck image or in the desktop image. Deck image contains ds-inhibit, which will autodetect steam and turn off the touchpad.
If not, and you will use the Dualsense with games that support it and steam, turn off the kernel module hid_playstation which will do the same. Although the compatibility of the controller with non-native Dualsense games will be reduced.
I’m on the desktop image of Bazzite. Can I install ds-inhibit using distrobox to access the AUR?
I’ve tried searching and I don’t quite understand how to disable the kernel module you mention. I’m sorry, I’m still pretty new to Linux. How do I go about doing that?
For me I went to “Input & Output” in settings then clicked the tab “Mouse & Touchpad”. From there I selected “Touchpad” and unchecked the box beside “Device enabled” at the top. (This was for the kde desktop, don’t know if gnome has this setting or not)
