The website should recommend against steam gaming mode for desktops

I’ve been helping inexperienced users install bazzite for a bit, and something that they almost all accidentally choose (I warn them) is to enable steam gaming mode.

Almost all desktop users will not want steam gaming mode, it should be made very clear that it’s a handheld style UI and that on a normal PC is undesirable, right now it just sounds like something that makes steam run better and is very unclear.

Sure, it says “this will automatically login to gamemode” but that warning means NOTHING to someone who doesn’t know that means already, and is easily ignored. It’d be nice if when you select it, a popup shows you what it is, or something.

Maybe call it steam-handheld-ui mode? I don’t know what would be best, but the way it is now confuses people.

Game mode is not specific to handhelds but to all PC form factors that try to emulate console look and feel. Calling it “handheld mode” is thus erroneous.

Maybe calling it a “Gaming UI, controller friendly” compared to “Desktop UI, mouse friendly” is a way to go?
