Do you recommend Aurora or Bazzite for daily driver?
We need:
They’ll be a lot of packages intended for gaming (i.e. Steam, which auto-starts when the PC boots up, and Lutris) on Bazzite. I would recommend Aurora for this use case, and not the -dx
version.
edit: also forgot to mention that Bazzite updates way more frequently and has had known regressions happen which requires rolling back.
Is Aurora 100% unBluefined / unGnomified? For full KDE experience.
It uses KDE Plasma and pre-installs mostly Qt applications as opposed to GTK, so yeah I would say there’s no GNOME there. It is literally Bluefin but KDE Plasma though as they’re from the same repo.
Why is that? Aurora should have their own repo to not have anything overlapped. Full KDE, full GNOME experience separately.
That overcomplicates it, since outside of branding and DE, its essentially the same thing. Bazzite does the same thing. Default is KDE Plasma, but there’s a GNOME version and both live in the same repository because it makes sense.
Aurora is using Kinoite and Bluefin uses Silverblue, and there’s really no “GNOME-ness” left in Aurora, and there’s no KDE overlap in Bluefin either. Both share preinstalled applications like Warehouse and BoxBuddy but those are utilities that aren’t bound to a desktop environment.
The version of Plasma in Aurora is 6.1.2 unless the DE has updated in the last several days.
