What do you think the requirements should be for having an app be part of the image? Steam, obviously, since gaming is central to Bazzite, but why was Firefox changed to a Flatpak? It does cause issues with Plasma browser integration. And it’s so puzzling to me that that was perceived as necessary, while a random app like webapp-manager isn’t replaced with one of the many Flatpak PWA managers available. Thoughts?
My opinion is that as little as possible should be in the base image.
The stuff in the base image should be things like a terminal, file manager and anything that is difficult to run in a container that is core to the experience.
I don’t think a web browser needs to be in the base image. It is better to let people install whatever browser they prefer. If you don’t like your browser being in a flatpak, you can just download Firefox and drop it in your home directory. You will get a full native experience and it will offer it’s own updates.
