VLC controller configuration and game mode setup?

Looking for help with getting a Steam Deck LCD setup for playback of DVD and Blu-ray movies and TV shows with VLC using a controller instead of keyboard and mouse control and hopefully do so from game mode instead of desktop mode

I think what you can do is:

  1. Open Desktop Mode
  2. Open VLC, go to settings, and take note of the keyboard shortcuts you need
  3. Add VLC to Steam as a Non-Steam Game
  4. Navigate to VLC in Steam (Game Mode or Desktop Mode works)
  5. There should be a gamepad icon, you can use it to edit your keybinds for VLC
  6. Put in the same keybinds on each buttons as the function you want, based on your notes (say, A = Space = Play/Pause)

Yes but I think having some preconfigured option that could be selected from say a ujust command in future versions of the OS might be kinda cool. I know not everyone will want it to be installed by default but hey it can’t hurt to have something available for me and I assume other people who might be like I want it to be a simple optional install script that is a ujust command away that installs and configures a media center setup.
