Swapping motherboards - do I need to format + reinstall?

I’m about to upgrade the core components on my Bluefin install; namely the motherboard and CPU. Not a huge architectural change (Ryzen 5000 to Ryzen 9000. Keeping the same GPU), but I’ve been conditioned to always format and start with a fresh OS install when moving to new hardware. I’ll be doing on for my Windows drive, for example.

Are folks doing this with Universal Blue distros (reformatting when moving hardware)? Or does an atomic OS have safeguards that would sidestep the cruft and instability I’m trying to preclude?

No need to change anything !

The only thing which can be needed is if changing from/to an NVIDIA GPU you need to rebase from/to the nvidia image.
