Problem installing Ublue Aurora DX on Asus Vivobook N6505MU

Hello,

I recently got my Vivobook and I wanted to try out Aurora DX on it for my development work.

The problem I ran into is that after downloading the latest iso and installing the OS on my laptop, the keyboard was not functional. I could type while using the installer, but when I got to the Sddm after installing, I couldn’t type anything.

Plugging in a USB keyboard worked, and I figured maybe running ujust update would fix it. In the threads I found online, it seemed like a kernel issue, and I was hoping the update would get things going. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I was using kernel version 6.10.3 (release candidate variant, for Asus laptops) and the keyboard still would not work.

I ended up installing another OS but I’m willing to give it another try if anyone knows of any solution to this issue.

Update: I tried downloading the iso for regular desktop/laptop devices rather than the dedicated Asus iso. It installed an older kernel, 6.9, but my keyboard still wasn’t working.

Update 2: like I mentioned, I went for another OS in the meantime. On Garuda Linux, initially the keyboard doesn’t work, but if I update my system, the keyboard works fine (kernel version 6.10.7 after update). I’m thinking more and more this is a kernel issue and Ublue Aurora just doesn’t have the kernel version needed for my laptop. On OpenSUSE Tumbleweed (kernel 6.10.5), the keyboard works just fine but the NVIDIA drivers stop working after I update the system…

I’m still experiencing this. I’ve also posted an issue on the Bluefin GitHub, with more information.

I experienced the same issue on a Acer latptop with french keyboard.
It works as well with a usb keyboard.
Couldn’t solve the problem neither.

The solution for me was to wait. After updating to the 20240909 image, the keyboard started working.
