I recently rebased from Bluefin DX to Bazzite DX. Before rebasing I had installed Cockpit from commandline. After moving to Bazzite, I installed Waydroid using ujust commands, and also installed Winboat. A new Containers “folder” with Distrobox and Podman Desktop appeared in the App drawer, and the Development folder was still showing from Bluefin install. I pulled Distrobox and Podman out of the Containers folder, and then they only showed in the Development folder. I opened Podman, and Winboat showed in Podman as well as another container I had started but which was not yet functional. But neither Cockpit nor Waydroid was in Podman Desktop. I installed Portainer from commandline, and Cockpit, Waydroid and Portainer were all there under the Podman tab in Portainer. Podman Desktop is showing a message that there are two instances of Podman installed on my machine. I take it that the rebase resulted in a second install of Podman. Since a duplicate of Distrobox appeared, I’m suspecting perhaps a second instance of Distrobox is also running. Only think installed in Distrobox is Waydroid (I think), have installed only from Homebrew and Flatpak so far. I’m at a loss as to how two instances are running. I’m not seeing multiple instances in services on Mission Center. Marking as bug as I noticed this after a rebase that seems otherwise successful, can’t swear that the rebase did it though I didn’t consciously install podman twice. I did have to reinstall virt-manager after rebase, but after doing so my vms all came back (and run amazingly fast compared to prior experience on laptops, KVM rocks). Running Bazzite on new Framework 12 laptop, i3 w 32gb ram, 1 T nvme. I’ll admit to limited linux experience, have run linux desktops only from temporary installs before, have some Ubuntu server experience and lots of Windows networking/user support background.
