Noticeable mouse input lag (or something else going on)?

Curious if anybody has looked into or researched input lag, mouse acceleration or any other related settings that might affect how the mouse feels in FPS games like counter strike 2.

I disabled pointer acceleration in the system preferences, but playing CS2 it doesn’t feel quite right. It’s really hard to describe, but I am nowhere near as accurate as when playing on Windows. I am running a Logitech super lite 2 mouse with the same DPI setting as I’ve been using in Windows. Graphics settings are identical. Sensitivity-wise it’s fine, it’s something else going on.

I don’t know if I’m picking up on some inherent lag with the graphics translation layer, but as above something just doesn’t feel right. Windows feels like a raw 1:1 mapping of my mouse movements. Bazzite feels like there’s some kind of post-processing or something going on beyond the (now disabled) acceleration - it doesn’t feel like raw mouse input.

I’m using the KDE-based environment. Happy to drop any other settings/info if helpful

-Some things to check in KDE display settings to see if it helps (try these one by one): adaptive sync (try turning this off) as not all games like adaptive sync equally…this can affect mouse latency. Try also limiting color bit depth to 8-bit, this may reduce some overhead/latency.

-You can also mess around with the in-game settings, not sure what CS:GO has for settings off the top of my head but anything to do with fps limits/triple buffering/vsync would be the place to start.

-Make sure to set scale for monitor to either 100% or 200% -not in between. Fractional scaling could cause issues…do not set to 125%, 150%, 175%

-What type of monitor are you using (specs)? If you are using newer IPS, VA, or TN panel there are settings for ‘overdrive’ on adaptive sync this too can affect mouse latency…although it may also introduce ghosting if set too fast. If you are setting a refresh rate in KDE settings below the ‘native’ or max refresh rate of the monitor this can also affect latency/sensitivity (example: set 120hz vs native 165hz).

TBH Linux mouse sensitivity does take some getting used to even on the desktop…and it is not just on Bazzite…for me the mouse always feels too floaty with acceleration and a bit ‘disconnected’ without it. Personally I use acceleration but set sensitivity all the way down.

-Please also post PC hardware information as it may be helpful (Nvidia vs AMD, etc.)

-You can also ask on discord, more people are likely to answer there and faster too.
