No WiFi or Bluetooth After Initial Setup

Hi,

On a fresh install of Bazzite both WiFi and bluetooth do not show up in settings/networks. Bazzite is the only OS installed on the system.

I have tried every solution I could find online including:

  • Fastboot is deactivated
  • Verified/toggled WiFi and bluetooth in the bios
  • Rolling back to an older version of Bazzite
  • Moving to the newest test version

I had WiFi working on Pop! yesterday.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a similar issue with my computer. I have no wifi or bt. They both work under windows but not with bazzite. It is frustrating since I cannot use my BT controller with a distro that is supposed to be aimed at gaming.

Have you tried plugging in an external wifi dongle just to see?

I’m a Bazzite newbie coming in from Mint, and my wifi drops periodically (seems to happen when something is trying to update but I’m not sure) and when it does, there’s no way to fix it that I can find other than rebooting. (It won’t even find any networks to connect to until I reboot.)

However, I found an old external wifi dongle and just for shits and grins plugged it into a USB port. Bazzite recognized it immediately and I logged into my wifi with the dongle. It lasted for a lot longer than the internal MB wifi for sure. And when it, too, finally failed, I simply unplugged it. Then, Bazzite reverted to the internal wifi and kept on trucking without a hiccup. Of course, a reboot was necessary to get them both back, but in a pinch it helped out…

Mint was finicky, too, in that some wifi dongles worked well, others didn’t, regardless of turning off Power Management on them…

Just a thought…

Have you updated the OS yet?

Lots of Wifi and BT chipsets were added to Kernel 6.17 the install image is usually an older Kernel, if can, connect via Ethernet and run the Bazzite Update tool.

I have a number of the AX900 Wifi/BT combo dongles, and these wont work on a fresh install, but after updating, they start working perfectly.

Also dropouts can sometimes be caused by the Wifi connection hunting and jumping to alternative access points, if your running the Deck image, there is a Decky-Loader plugin to fix this, it stops spikes or bad wifi connections while game streaming.
