lsusb shows the wifi dongle as Bus 001 Device 045: ID 2dc8:3109 8BitDo 8BitDo Arcade Reciever
but the controller does not pair.
When connected via usb cable, lsusb output is Bus 001 Device 045: ID 2dc8:3109 8BitDo 8BitDo Arcade Reciever
but in looks like the controller is repeatedly resetting itself (led blinking and the bazzite plays connect/disconnect sound)
Under System settings / game controller nothing shows up
In windows works seamlessly, and other 8bitdo devices (like the arcade stick) do work on bazzite as well
I’m happy that you found a workaround for now. I think you need to check steam input and how it presents the drive. Before you run the game can it see the controller connected when on xinput ??
Is you on the op post you said about the receiver. Is the dongle also connected ? Please try by removing the dongle and connecting the controller in x input
Then try to connect the controller to the dongle and check that its paired correctly
Open steam both times go to settings and check under the controller section if you can see the controller.
So strange. If I turn on the controller on xinput by himself (without dongle or cable) it tries to pair (led blinking and the like). As soon as i connect the dongle, the blinking stops and everything turns off on the controller (the dongle still blinks). I get the sound of a connected device but nothing
Do you have access to a windows machine to run the 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2? You might be in huge need of a firmware update in both the dongle and the controller. If you have not updated the controller ever and dont have access to a windows machine I would recommend you spin up a windows VM in bazzite with ujust setup-virtualization expose both the controller and the dongle to that VM and try to update both of them with the V2 software by 8bitdo
I did update the controller already. The dongle does not have firmware updates.
Both versions show the same behavior.
One thing I noticed is that if I connect by cable it briefly shows up as 8bitdo controller under Info center USB devices, then it disappears and shows up as unknown
Ok this sounds like a bug. I would post a bug report on the matter on GitHub · Where software is built. Please be sure to include all info you are seeing regarding the device and provide info.
The controller has been out for just 10 days, and, as you said, I have an acceptable workaround for the time being, with s mode and steam adjusting the input. So I’m not in a rush or anything
