I recently switched from bluefin-dx-surface:gts to bluefin-dx-hwe:latest on my Surface Book 2. Since the upgrade, I’ve noticed the battery icon is missing from the taskbar/system tray.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far to resolve the issue:
installed the Just Perfection GNOME extension and tweaked various settings
Attempted to install the surface-linux daemon (surface-dtx-daemon)
Unfortunately, neither of these steps resolved the issue.
To assist with troubleshooting, I’ve included:
Output of rpm-ostree status.
Screenshots showing the missing battery icon.
Is there a workaround for this issue on bluefin-dx-hwe:latest? Or would rolling back to bluefin-dx-surface:gts be the best option for now?
Thank you for the update! I’m new to custom images, but I’ve started reading up on building them to better understand the process. I’ve also checked out the image-template you shared and will give it a try. I’d love to contribute to testing Surface builds and help move things forward.
