Recently moved from Ubuntu 24.04 to Bluefin-DX-Nvidia. Love the concept of immutable distro and really grateful for all the work Universal Blue team did to make immutable user friendly. It feels much snappier that Ubuntu! Wayland and Nvidia just work for me on bluefin-dx-41-stable. I run into couple of issues which while not critical are quite annoying. Appreciate if you could help me.
Initially bluetooth speakers and headphones (3 different models) work fine but eventually I hear audio distortions and one channel drops off. No issues on Ubuntu 24.04. I looked into Fedora Bluetooth troubleshooting guides. They refer to some tools not available on Bluefin by default. Is there a Universal Blue specific Bluetooth troubleshooting guide somewhere?
41.20250316.1 replaced ânvidia-container-toolkitâ with âgolang-github-nvidia-container-toolkitâ. I cannot get GPU working in a devcontainer since⌠vs code throws error message about GPU driver unavailable. Any ideas how to fix it are welcome.
Thanks for quick reply, Jorge!
So I layer those via rpm-ostree? Just to double check, there are no differences in the way Bluetooth set up between standard Fedora and Bluefin-DX?
This is the guide I was following, first reference âhciconfigâ - not found.
⯠rpm-ostree search hciconfig
No matches found.
~
⯠brew search hciconfig
Error: No formulae or casks found for "hciconfig".
There are no differences between the two, hciconfig was deprecated and is in neither Fedora or Bluefin. I think the documentation page just needs to be updated?
Just wanted to share my thoughts after using Bluefin and Bluefin-DX on my laptop and workstation for few moths.
Really love the idea of containers and sandboxing. Even though I am not using Bluefin anymore, I will stick to those principles as much as I can. DevContainers are amazing. Flatpack is a great option ~80% of the time for me.
I appreciate massive efforts of Jorge and the team. What youâve done so far is nothing short of amazing.
Spent couple of days trying to sort bluetooth issues. Maybe itâs my HW, but things just work on Ubuntu 22.04 and 24.10. I donât mind troubleshooting, simply couldnât find a solution for Fedora / Bluefin. No matter where I look, guides either outdated or unavail⌠I used to daily drive Arch. Things break sometimes, but I was always able to find information online how to fix those breakages. Bluefinâs âreliabilityâ didnât materialize for me somehow.
Nvidia-container-toolkit removed from the Bluefin-DX image. I donât even know where to start. Should I create my custom image? Seems like an overkill and way too much hassle.
Ubuntu just works out of the box. I am OK to go through the pain of debloating it once and then it just works.
No idea about the Bluetooth issue. Unless I missed it, I donât think you mentioned your hardware. On some other distros, Iâve had to use a usb to Bluetooth adapter, which seemed crazy since I had a $450 motherboard, but it worked. Fortunately, the built in Bluetooth works for me on Bluefin.
Nvidia-container-toolkit is still in bluefin-nvidia-dx.
There was a problem with the build scripts last week. I rolled back and resumed work, and they pushed an update less than a day later.
Thank you for chiming in, @JohnAlt. My MB has built-in Intel WiFi/Bluetooth. It wasnât very stable so I disabled it and bought an external dongle couple of years ago. Saw people recommending it on Reddit specifically for Linux. Itâs TP-Link UB500 Adapter (Realtek RTL8671b chip, supported natively by kernel 5.8+). I connect it via USB cable to minimise interference.
With regards to nvidia-container-toolkit, I must have missed the reverse change in the latest release notes.
