Is System Update supposed to close on its own?

Sorry if it’s a silly question, but is the expected behavior for System Update to just suddenly close on its own when it finishes updating everything?

I remember before it would prompt me to decide if I wanted to reboot in that moment or later, but about 2 days ago I logged into my Bluefin partition (hadn’t been using it for a couple months) and the same thing always happens:

  • I click System Update and it starts fetching ostree chunks
  • It always seems to skip the last one (so if there’s 10, it will go from [9/10] to “staging deployment”
  • Shows a couple of info messages about gnome apps being end-of-life due to changes in flathub policies
  • Updates flatpak apps
  • Updates homebrew packages
  • Suddenly closes without any confirmation or error mesage

If I run ujust update in the terminal it says there’s no more updates.

When I check ostree status I get rpm-ostreed-automatic.service: last run failed, but it shows the new updated deployment on top of the current one. Then when I reboot everything seems to be normal and there aren’t any more error messages. Should I worry about any of this?

No I would just leave it alone, if your status matches the current image then you should be good.

I had the same thing on Bazzite once this week but on the next two days it worked perfectly again. So I thought nothing to worry about.
