I’ve been having a little exchange in OBS forums with the creator of a 3rd party Vaapi AV1 encoder creator, trying to track a bug that crashes the encoder seemingly at random. He told me that my Gstreamer version is outdated, which is true and that the crash is happening with Gstreamer. He is wondering if the crash would persists with an updated version of Gstreamer.
When I check on the terminal it tells me the Gstreamer version is 1.26.3 and official website says the latest version is 1.26.5. I would like to know if it is possible to safely update it without breaking anything. Since Bazzite is image-based (or immutable, I’m not sure which term to use really,) I don’t even know if it is possible to update it myself.
Should I wait for an official update or is there a way? Thanks for all advice, answer and suggestions in advance and have a great day!
