Gstreamer missing plugin: AV1 decoder

Hello, I am currently using Bazzite 40, when I try to open a specific video with Clapper I get this error. Since the distro is atomic I am not even trying to install the plugin myself. Any ideas on this?

It will help if you give more information. Like what OS are you running? The below command should give us that information.

rpm-ostree status

Then information on how you are running the application would be helpful. For example, I assume you are running the app through flatpak, but confirmation would be nice. If you do not know, just telling us how the app was installed would be helpful.

I personally can play av1 videos on the flatpak version of Clapper. If you are doing the same, then maybe trying a different video player like VLC might help. Even if you wish to use Clapper, testing other video players can help narrow down the issue.

I tried VLC but it will not open the file correctly either, does not specify the reason. And actually, the file extension is mp4. It does open on Windows using Pot Player, so it is not a file problem.

It seems like you have a lot of pending updates.

Try updating and then rebooting your system. It might help, given that a major os version has changed since you last updated.

Im pretty sure this is due to Clapper having an outdated Flatpak Runtime. You should try installing Showtime and checking if it works at all on that one instead

What kind of sorcery is this? that media player is so small in size and still is opening a video that VLC could not. Thanks.

Still, I would like to see a fix for Flatpak Clapper in the future.

You should file an issue on the Clappers github. I think there is one for the old runtime it is using but the dev has not updated it
