How to make Steam remember auth information?

Every time I reboot, Steam asks me for username and password, even though I keep the “Remember me” option selected. How do I make Steam actually remember me?

Also, settings such as resolution, bluetooth on/off state and HDR are also reset to defaults on reboot

Are you in KDE or Gnome?

I’m using GNOME and have Bazzite set up.to boot directly into Big Picture

Got it. Can you try going into gnome desktop and using the command ujust fix-reset-steam , restart and see if that fixes your problem. Looks like a steam settings permission error.

I ran the script and rebooted a few times and settings were remembered - looks like it’s fixed for now.

The issue kept happening occasionally, not on each reboot, so I’ll flag it here if the issue comes back.

But so far, so good - thanks!

Perfect! You might have had a bad update on Steam or something. It’s fine, hence the ujust script that just resets everything and sets up Steam from scratch for you! Be sure to mark the thread as solved after a while so others can try the same steps if they stumble upon it.

Unfortunately, today after a forced reboot I see the steam login page again :frowning:

Edit: but after another reboot it properly remembers the auth data

Ok thats weird as hell. Can you post your specs pls?

Sure thing, there you go:
