How to disable ibus?

I installed bluefin-dx-nvidia yesterday (Fedora 41) and am having trouble properly disabling the ibus service. I would like to use PaperWM, but the Super + . key combination consistently opens an interactive text input in IDEs or the terminal.

I can’t seem to find a way online to disable this without editing something in the filesystem. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi! Super + . brings up the ibus emoji conversion tool, along with Super + ;. Perhaps it will help disabling the Super + . keybind?

Launch ibus-setup from the terminal → EmojiEmoji annotation. The changes will automatically be applied.

Thanks for responding! That was my initial intuition but I’ve been struggling with errors like this:

something with my dev environment seems weird but being a fresh install I’m not sure what I’ve done.

Just discovered toolbox. My bad. Using it solved my problem.

Edit: for posterity, in case another person comes across this, I just ran toolbox enter and installed Toolbx, then I was able to run ibus-setup normally. All good!

FWIW when ibus interferes with games and you want to disable it for the current session only, I use ibus exit

Oh, yeah. I had been doing this before I discovered the toolbox solution but particularly with the PaperWM shortcut I didn’t want to have to run ibus exit every time I log in.
