Graphical artifacts

Hi all,
For the last two days i have some odd graphical bug/artifacts that only appears on the desktop or when the screen display something completely black.

on the screenshot they appear greyish but they’re sometimes colorful.
Any clue on what might the cause and or how to solve it ?

I’m on a Framework laptop 13 with AMD 7040.

Thanks!

I can confirm this problem. I have a Framework Laptop 16 with an AMD 7040 and started to notice this as well (I’ve only recently installed Bluefin). The graphical glitch seemed to be attached to the lower right edge of mouse cursor, so it moves along with it. Changes to the cursor sometimes make it disappear but sooner or later it returns.

This might be mesa 25 issue. Atleast few reports on the framework forums about the graphical glitches.

So propably needs a update from mesa

I had this when running my monitors at a high refresh rate. I bumped it from 165Hz to 144Hz and it seems to have gone away. Not sure why this happens though…

Note I swapped to latest release, with newer kernel and mesa, and these artifacts went away.

I am experiencing exactly this with the Asus ROG Ally X. Curiously, the artifacts only affect everything except when I am playing; once I start the game, I have no problems. Otherwise, there are always artifacts, and the Asus ROG Ally X freezes, requiring me to press the power button for a few seconds to force a shutdown.

Asus ROG Ally X freezes and artifacts appear. - Bazzite - Universal Blue

Can’t say anything for sure, but there has been some of these artifacting noticed with AMD hardware (gpus atleast) with the newest Mesa 25.

After updating Bazzitte, I’ve been having issues, like I mentioned before, with artifacts and freezes that completely lock up the machine. Just to be sure, I downloaded an ISO and reinstalled Bazzite, but the problem definitely comes from there. I can’t blame my Asus Rog Ally X because I also tried Windows and didn’t have any errors or freezes.

So, I’m just waiting for this to get fixed so I can go back to Bazzite, since with the current version it’s impossible to use because it keeps freezing, and I have to force it to shut down by holding the power button for a few seconds. I don’t know what the improvements are in the new Mesa 25 version, but right now, with the Asus Rog Ally X, it’s totally broken.
