Bluefin with GNOME is stable, secure, beautiful and clean. @j0rge thank you for adding extra cool and important stuff in Bluefin missing in other projects.
I’ll be recommending Bluefin. Please keep up a great work. Thank you everyone for Bluefin project.
I’ve been doing some ISO testing in VMs in the past few days and it feels like it’s feature complete. Any missing components? We’re aware of the raw spots like the first run wizard and some other things but as we approach F40 I’d like to call the stock image mostly ready to go.
I feel comfortable giving the non-DX image to a wider audience with these ISOs once we’re done testing. Thoughts on overall readiness in that regard?
Bluefin non-DX iso is now fully ready. Like no installation issues, no issues with Ventoy ( for lazy guys like me), easy to install and with offline image really fast ( less than 2 min). First boot is fast.
Missing other languages during install maybe can be issue for someone, but I always use english so that is not issue for me.
Post install process with flatpaks is fine ( maybe can be faster , but it is also fine for me. You have a great choice of apps, which can be handy at first). But you can always install other apps .Overall looking and comparing to older .iso this one is really perfect
I’ve been also testing immutable/non-immutable systems from other projects and to me “Bluefin gts” offline iso is probably the best.
“Bluefin gts” reminds me of Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 and LTSC 2019 builds.
Latter is still in support till year 2029. Right now I see “Bluefin gts” as really great alternative when Win10 support ends.
When it comes to Windows 11, very bloated and slow and I think their LTSC versions would be the same once released. Hence, we need a viable alternative, which I see in “Bluefin gts”.
As a long-time Windows user, now I realize I prefer Bluefin’s GNOME simplicity over Windows 10/11/KDE overwhelm.
Because at the end of the day, i think simplicity is the cornerstone of productivity and peace of mind.
If your Fedora 39 is an immutable variant (Silverblue, Kinoite or another Atomic one), then I think you’re just a few rebase commands away from switching to a UBlue system. But if its non-immutable Fedora then I believe you’ll have to reinstall.
If you switch from Silverblue default install you have to rebase all your flatpak images from fedora to flathub repo else they won’t be updated. Wonder if this is also documented/highlighted ?
