Black Screen Issue When Using Steam Overlay with NVIDIA 570 Drivers

Hello everyone!

I’d like to report a bug that I’ve been experiencing since updating to the latest NVIDIA 570 drivers.

I’m using Bazzite-Deck-NVIDIA 41 and, In-game, my RTX 4070 Super performs flawlessly, which is great! However, every time the Steam overlay is used (such as trophy notifications, friends, chat, etc.), I can see the overlay perfectly, but the rest of the screen turns black. As soon as the notification disappears, the screen returns to normal.

Meanwhile, the game itself continues running, as I can still hear the audio playing correctly.

I’d rather not roll back to the previous drivers because this version has finally fixed an issue I had with waking from sleep mode, where my screen would remain black. So, until a fix is available, I’ll disable Steam notifications as a temporary workaround.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any potential workarounds or fixes?

Thanks in advance!

Hey JoPool - try disabling VRR/Adaptive Sync and see if the issue persists. VRR over HDMI (and I think Display Port too) has issues in the current 570 beta state.

Hi everyone,

Before I could try the workaround suggested by support, the February update was released, and it has effectively fixed the issue!

A huge thanks to the team for their great work and to silent who responded to me. I really appreciate the support!
