Bazzite update fails (manifest error)

Using the system update link or typing “rpm-ostree update” gives this error:

Pulling manifest: ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/bazzite-gnome:stable-41.20250203
error: Creating importer: failed to invoke method OpenImage: failed to invoke method OpenImage: reading manifest stable-41.20250203 in ghcr.io/ublue-os/bazzite-gnome: manifest unknown

Any ideas?

You rebased yourself to ghcr.io/ublue-os/bazzite-gnome:stable-41.20250203, that needs to be :stable at the end instead.

Thanks j0rge,
Just so I understand: using the “system update” desktop entry in Buzzite now no longer uses the stable branch, and I need to do a manual update.

will do, thanks

@J0rge: how do I change this setting in Bazzite? The system updater gives me this error message, so somehow this is a hardcoded item? I’ve not made any changes / rebased to anything other than the default in the system updater.

I’ve rebased to stable (via rollback helper) which should fix the issue I think
Still wondering how the change came to be, so will see if the logs point at anything.

Any ideas on what could cause such a change?

It’s a user decision to pin to a specific image, do you remember something happening around feb 3rd of this year?
