Ayaneo Flip KB - Almost Perfect, Just a few Quirks

I finally got a used Ayaneo Flip KB after selling the Antec Core HS as I couldn’t solve the random reboot issue that makes Bazzite and even official steamOS usable.

Only for a little more, I got this Flip KB, which is an upgrade, at least in RAM and SSD, although it’s a used device in good condition. It seems to work perfectly with Bazzite, but with a few issues I’m looking for solutions

  • Extra buttons do not work, I think this is because Handheld Daemon is missing FLIP KB for Ayaneo for support.
  • For sound to work, you need to run ujust install-speaker-firmware
  • Sleep works with the lid and power button, as long you update the firmware.
  • Sound crackles for about 60 secs after waking from sleep. Eventually it goes away
  • Touch screen does not work properly. It thinks the screen is in portrait mode when it is in landscape (rotation mismatch)

Otherwise, no issues so far, and it runs games extremely well.

If anyone has an Ayaneo Flip KB that have a fix for the above issues, feel free to share them.

Some updates:

  • Make sure you update the BIOS that enables MS Sleep from the Ayaneo website. The most recent BIOS will not enable sleep. This needs to be run in Windows first before installing Bazzite. Sleep should work perfectly afterwards.
  • I added the FLIP KB and FLIP DS to the device constants for Handheld Daemon, so the extra buttons should now work when it gets incorporated in a stable release. However, it’s working now if you switch to the Testing branch of Bazzite.
  • Touch orientation still not correct, still finding a solution for this.
