Why was flatpak upgraded to pre-release branch?

Today I have ujust update on Blufin and after reboot I checked flatpak version with command flatpak --version and it is displayed “Flatpak 1.17.2”.

Flatpak uses even numbers for stable release and odd numbers for development pre-release. So Blufin flatpak has migrated from v1.6.x stable branch to v1.7.x development branch. Any idea why? I see this as searching for a trouble.

Next flatpak stable version will be v1.18.x, but it will probably not be released for few years, according to Flathub forum posts. Why rush to pre-release versions so early?

I am posting on this forum, because I assume other variants of Universal Blue may suffer the same issue.

There is no issue.

This was a change so we can get the needed features from flatpak, like preinstall which we want to have for Bazaar and stuff like that.

And this is our own version so we can control it for now..

Previously we had to use our own patch for 1.16 to get the preinstall stuff to work, which was not that nice either.

Looks like this is controlled change. I wrongly assumed someone has upgraded to development branch of flatpak by mistake. Thanks for reply.
