If I uninstall the “Sushi” app (org.gnome.NautilusPreviewer
flatpak app) it doesn’t crash anymore, so that’s a workaround.
Looks related:
Everyone with this issue is on F42 it seems? (I know all the bazzite people are).
That’s a yes for me.
I’m back on 41 now, and it’s all fluffy kittens and green meadows.
(I may get some sleep tonight.)
Sorry you had to deal with this! (That GTS life sure is nice. )
Ok folks let’s move this to github:
Looks like this is the upstream bug report: x-d-p crashes or does not allow portal operations if Flatpak app does not export APP_ID.desktop · Issue #1718 · flatpak/xdg-desktop-portal · GitHub
Fixed in 1.20.3
And it’s incoming into Fedora:
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-c358833c5d
In the meantime I’ll look at pinning it on the older version so we can get something working.
OK so we’re able to pull in 1.30.3 with the fix, here are the builds - when these go green please do an update, you should see the updated xdg-desktop-portal in the status. Then report back please!

VS Code works perfectly after upgrading, thank you!
For me the problem is also solved. I confirmed in various apps. Thanks all for the amazing community work and superb automation.
I’ve reported back to the VS Code issue and closed that one.
Thanks for everyone’s input on this, and for the rapid response in pushing fixes!
