Attention distrobox enjoyers! Now that github has upgraded all the runners to ubuntu 24.04 we can enjoy a new version of podman in our build system. So we turned on zstd:chunked support, here all the goodies we get with that!:
These changes are now live and apply to our toolboxes:
- GitHub - ublue-os/toolboxes: Centralized repository of containers designed for Toolbox/Distrobox
- GitHub - ublue-os/bazzite-arch: A ready-to-game Arch Linux based OCI designed for use exclusively in distrobox.
Bazzite-arch users have a thicc container too so that should really help them out. You do have to do some config on your end, see the link to the red hat post with the info.
This is the same tech that we’ll be using on the OS images at some point, can’t wait to see how much bandwidth we can save!
