New user here, I noticed from the start that I’m unable to browse any BBC News site unless I’m behind a VPN. This happens with Bluefin, Aurora, and Bazzite, on three different PCs but it never happened on any other distro I used over the years or any other OS… Is this a Ublue thing, or a Fedora Atomic thing? How can I solve this? I’m in Europe if this makes any difference.
What is exact web page URL and what error you receive?
Most probably this isn’t specific to Universal Blue or any Atomic.
If web page works under VPN, it is likely web page checks origin of your PC and blocks you.
This is just guesing, because more info is required.
I don’t get any errors, it simply doesn’t load the pages. It doesn’t happen on my Mac or Opensuse and Fedora machines connected to the same network. It never happened before on any other distro or OS ever, but it was the first thing I immediately noticed on all the Ublue variants I just installed, on a notebook (Bluefin), on a desktop (Aurora), and on the gaming PC (Bazzite KDE).
Have you tried other browsers in a Universal Blue system? I know it seems basic, but people often overlook simple things.
It does the same with chromium. Could it be there some security setting in the system? I’m still very new to this otherwise fantastic Linux implementation and I haven’t audited things like the firewall etc.
