Tailscale stops responding after F42 update

Hey folks! I’m using a mix of Bluefin, Bazzite and Aurora. I’ve just moved two of my devices (one Bluefin, one Aurora) to Fedora 42 on the stable channel here. On both devices, the update succeeded without issue, but Tailscale has stopped functioning. Ktailctl starts, but trying to start Tailscale from there causes it to hang. And running “tailscale up” in a terminal results in a hang with no additional output. I’m wondering if this is a reproducible issue or something specific to my system(s).

Can’t repro on my aurora:latest

Please open an issue on one of the repos with logs, etc.

tailscale was working for me after updating to fc42 but now (after rebooting to try to enable the “usershares” group in via the KDE UI, which didn’t work..) tailscale is logged out.
and I can only login via “sudo tailscale login”. “tailscale up --operator=$USER” fails with: “Access denied: prefs write access denied”

just mentioning because logging in to tailscale via root privileges restores some capabilities that OP may be seeking, but ktailctl will warn that tailscaled is not running.

Quick update from me: after waiting for two days, it looks like Tailscale has started working again on both devices. I haven’t changed anything, nor have I installed additional updates, and so I’m a bit puzzled. But I guess I can’t complain.
