How can I use Tailscale to remote desktop in Bluefin?
Thanks
Tailscale is built in to our images.
Just run ujust toggle-tailscale
Much depends on the system.
I have an openSUSE small homeserver at home. With Tailscale on all my PCs and my Bluefin/Windows laptop, I simply use any app to remotely connect and use TS’s assigned IP. Example: NoMachine - as in my case - or maybe Remmina (not sure).
I should be able to use Connections that comes with Bluefin right?
I don’t see where I could fill out the password information in Connections (like in the video)
@Bambiraptor the GNOME Connections app is fairly new and lacking a lot of features.
I haven’t figured out how to configure authentication in it for RDP or VNC connections.
What @shishimaru was trying to say is to use a different app that has those features. He mentions NoMachine
(proprietary) and Remmina
(open source) - both of which have Flatpak’s available.
I have not used either of those - FYI.
I am not sure who the target users are for Connections. There are no docs available for it. And it seems to be lacking the most commonly needed features.
Good luck.
Thanks @klmcw!
Heard a lot of good things about RustDesk as well.
Gonna investigate, be well!
In case nothing is working, just try NoMachine since it just works. Enable Tailscale on your computers and it’s done; NoMachine recognizes your network.
Myself I tried to use “native” tools in some distros and systems, but in the end I just grew tired and found an easier solution, as it’s supposed to be.
To make RDP connections from Bluefinn I use Remmina Application. To RDP into my Bluefinn instances I have used the Gnome Remote Desktop in the settings. I use the Tailscale FQDN tailnet or the 100.x.x.x IP address for the instance to connect.
RustDesk will be great choice! But unfortunately you need to layer it, you can’t using Flatpak version for unattended access.
Yes! it’s pretty cool, just tried it and it works like charm, pretty much like Teamviewer.
I’m using the flatpack version to help out some friends and family.
What’s your use case for unattended access for example?
It is fine for using Flatpak to control others, but if being controlled, you need to install to host system.
And if you want, you can use my unofficial RPM repository: GitHub - xlionjuan/rustdesk-rpm-repo: Unofficial RustDesk rpm (and SUSE) repo (latest&nightly)
