Speed to release for driver updates

Hi Friends. I been on bazzite for my main gaming rig for a bit over a year and i haven’t missed windows at all really. Until i needed a graphics driver update for the new Doom game. I see the new mesa packages starting to work there way into upstream fedora and I know they will reach bazzite eventually, but it had me thinking: Back in my windows days i could just download and update a driver, is there a way to do this with copr and/or rpm-ostree?

Technically yes, but you really shouldn’t. Drivers will automatically make it to Bazzite quite soon as it hits stable on Fedora.

AFAIK you can instead use VK_DRIVER_FILES to run the newer driver. Alternatively, I recall that you can use newer drivers in a Distrobox, so I would just install bazzite-arch and maybe install mesa-git from AUR using paru, Steam in the distrobox should then use the newer mesa in the distrobox (someone correct me if I’m wrong).

Ah OK these are the kind of interesting ideas I was looking for! Yeah at this point they are gonna hit stable pretty soon so I will wait, but I’m gonna keep these in my back pocket for next time. Thanks.
