Spectacle won't open

This shows up as a notif when opening from keyboard shortcut or app launcher: Could not activate remote peer ‘org.kde.spectacle’: startup job failed

From terminal it says illegal instruction core dumped

Sounds similar to

and maybe

no one (with the hardware) has investigated this issue so far, it’s likely hardware related.

Both of them have older intel CPUs.

It also affected me I have an Intel Pentium N6000 I’m trying the fix you suggested in Discover and Spectacle don't open · Issue #828 · ublue-os/aurora · GitHub if it works I’ll get back to you

I tried the first bootc and it didn’t work now I’m going to try the second one

@renner info symbol $rip _sub_I_65535_0.0 + 1382 in section .text of /lib64/liblcevc_dec_api.so.4 it seems that a library is using avx instructions when cpus that are like mine or older don’t have it so it crashes when it gets to the library

I added some things you could try to perhaps narrow it down further. Likely an upstream bug.

@renner I tried it for Bazzite and the 0620 version does not have it now Spectacle works
