on the nvidia deck iso image the EmuDeck & (kodi from flathub) with ujust install-emudeck in console didn’t run right (display went to black screen with kodi, and emudeck was also seeable if you hit windows logo key, but full screem they didn’t work) in Kde desktop mode, only in while in deck mode both worked right under that, the shortcut installer for Emudeck created there was bad, it downloaded Emudeck but the setup under it was unable to complete correctly, and when closed from the shortcut it seemed like the launch emudeck was not even installed searching for the title in the linux kde start menu you are unable to find the installed emudeck, it didn’t install correctly until I use the console and ran ujust install-emudeck, that got it working not the shortcut them second method didn’t work correctly in the beta nvidia deck iso image for kde version, I didn’t try it on gnome version so I don’t know yet.
KDE is questionably stable When I used it on my older desktop, some apps would have problems, the desktop even seemed to of crashed when transfering files from my SSD USB drive brand is Samsung PSSD T7 Shield, while I was doing some other stuff on it, also installed calibre for my public domain ebooks, I think I was coping files in desktop mode in kde, when I opened a ebook with calibre using flathub source of app using calibre ebook reader app. I used my USB-C cable and on the back of the nvidia rtx 2080 card, it has a USB-C port, otherwise my older gigabyte desktop doesn’t have a direct USBC port since the desktop itself and its coolermaster case only has USB2 and USB3 ports on it. EmuDeck runs fine under Steam Deck mode but when ran from the desktop mode in KDE, the display had problems screen. It went black accessing the desktop afterwards witn the windows logo key, but I was able to run EmuDeck from Steam without black display bug. Also, the thing happened with Kodi too. It runs when ran from Steam Deck mode but under desktop, it seems to go black in KDE using that source from flathub. I didn’t test them much out in GNOME. I had used GNOME desktop less before switching to the kde version with the iso image and installer, but then, seemed more stable on that older Gigabyte with ddr3 memory and the Intel i7 processor. Also, I had to run from the console to using the command ujust install-EmuDeck or get-Emudeck with instead of the shortcut on the desktop in KDE mode That didn’t install correctly. There seem to be at least two ways to install EmuDeck in KDE desktop mode. I have yet to install it on my laptop, which is ASUS, its a legacy laptop since it has nvidia gtx 1070 Card, and nvidia deck cannot be ran on it. I also installed retrodeck from flathub, but I haven’t tested that version out much yet on bazzite. this is on my older gigabyte with intel i7 prcoessor , 32 of ram ddr3 memmory and nvidia rtx 2080 3D card. I am not sure if this is the nvidia glitches that were shortly brought up under the fact its a beta image, but wanted to ask the monitor is gigabyte M28U which supports HDR mode, calibre itself didn’t have any display problems under kde desktop, it only seemed to have problems with kodi and EmuDeck, both of which displayed fine under steam deck of the kde version of bazzite, I didn’t test them yet under the gnome image, but for whatever reason it seemed like gnome was more stable, I read posts online saying people like kde more for its look a like windows design and it should use less memory than gnome if the infomation I read online is correct, I do like the idea of gnome on my laptop and desktop with kde, once its more stable, I used KDE neon, and other sources of kde before, and some are more stable than other distros be it depends on them, I also used fedora silverblue and kinoite too, so I know they work fine on my older gigabyte, again I am happy that we have a working nvidia deck mode now that supports the kinoite and silverblue modes of linux, so thanks again for making it work. I do have to ask why EmuDeck has too ways to install it, again ujust command in the console, worked better than the desktop shortcut, I don’t know why but the desktop shortcut didn’t install it correct, and the command installer with ujust did work right it seems.
even thought my monitor supports HDR but not sure it works yet right under the HDR mode in either kde or gnome, as when its turned on I didn’t notice anything different, it seems like the Linux hdr support is not currently working for that monitor, it works under windows but not some of the Linux distros. Also I have a new tv set, that supports hdr and 4k modes, its a LG oled c4 based tv. I only tried the Alienware HDMI connection with my Alienware pc, I have not tried it from Linux, unless I find some good games I want to play on my new tv, I might not connect it I am not sure how much the newer TV’s have that burning in problem with oled, it’s a new tv, and I think that’s problem been somewhat fixed, but I am not sure if besides my gaming consoles if I want to setup my steam deck mode with the tv set yet.
The shortcut on kde desktop for Emudeck didn’t install correctly and in console prompt the ujust install-Emudeck worked for me.
