I really love this project and it has been hassle free for me for the past 6-7 months but I want to rebase to one of the images found here (List of Community Created Custom Images) .
I tried to layer in hyprland at some point while using bluefin-dx, it worked without any issues for some time until I used gnome after a week of living in hyprland. All the customizations in gnome have disappeared. Now all I have is a stock gnome that you see in a fresh install of fedora workstation.
I have read in some forum threads here that all of the customizations and flatpaks that are part of the image will be removed when you rebase. I game on the bazzite-arch distrobox container, so will that also be removed when I rebase ?
Using multiple DEs (and/or WMs) generally discouraged, especially with the same user account, as it may lead to configuration oopsies as you have experienced. I’m not sure of the specifics, but using/configuring Hyperland most likely have overriden Bluefin default settings (dconf, GTK, etc) which caused GNOME to revert to vanilla default.
Before rebasing, you’re highly recommended to remove all layered packages rpm-ostree override reset. After rebasing, if you still need to rebase the packages, you can layer them again. Flatpaks… I actually don’t remember if Flatpaks that come with Bluefin will be removed or not upon rebasing if the new image doesn’t include them. Flatpak data should remain under ~/.var/app/ though, so if the apps do get removed you can reinstall them again. That, or explore Warehouse features to back up the list of Flatpaks you use and their data.
bazzite-arch and distroboxes will not be removed upon rebasing, so you’re safe.
