Overwatch is broken after updating Bazzite

I use desktop and KDE Plasma and after updating from 44:20260802 to 44:20260820 Overwatch is extremely stuttery with huge fluctuations in frame times. It’s completely unplayable. Cyberpunk: 2077 and FurMark run fine and actually got a small bump in performance.

I play OW through Steam and used the “DXVK_HUD=compiler” launch option to check if it was just shader compilation taking a really long time. It doesn’t seem to be. Last night I let the game run in the training range for over an hour while I had dinner and the problem never went away. Once shader compilation finishes my CPU goes back down to ~15-20% usage (normal for me in OW) but the GPU usage jumps all over the place between about 15% and 100%, and the jumps are fast and frequent like jumping every half second.

I’ve tried a few different compatibility layers. I usually use GE-Proton Latest but tried GE-Proton 11.2 which I know worked in the past. I also tried Proton Experimental, Proton 11.0-2 and one or two others which I can’t remember.

I tried with and without “Enable Shader Pre-chaching” in the Steam download settings.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing the game.

For now I’ve rolled back to the previous stable release but I’d like to find a solution in case it doesn’t go away with another update.

I have:
5800X3D
9070 XT
NVME SSD

Any ideas?
