When I first installed Bazzite, a few weeks ago, I was playing Darktide and UI was quick an snappy, it would load inventory cosmetics super quick slick…
But I have recently reinstalled Bazzite, and it is running now like Windows 11 appalling laggy, buggy garbage.
Has anything happened, has there been a Bazzite update? or something else?
EDIT: I did upgrade my GPU to a 9070XT, from a 7900XT.
Hmm, I am running Darktide on an RDNA3 gpu at the moment (RX 7600) and everything is running silky smooth. I was surprised I wasn’t even getting the infamous stutters when entering skin shop menu. Since you mentioned upgrading to a 9070xt, maybe the issue is the not yet mature RDNA4 drivers?
If you have access to your old gpu, can you maybe try switching and try again. Also do you have vulkan shader pre-caching enabled in Steam settings? That might help as well. Other than that I don’t think I can give much advice.
No, not that I know of. I check updates every day. All I know is RDNA4 drivers are not yet as mature for as previous gen drivers for Linux. That’s all that comes to mind.
You can actually enable FSR4 with a simple launch command, but lo and behold, in classic Fatshark fashion, FSR4 is broken at the moment and causes the game to crash Doesn’t matter which OS.
Are the stutters happening on windows with the same GPU? It might be a general problem with the drivers independent on OS too. I had problems on my laptop with stuttering with Vermitide 2 on windows 11 too that I could never fix. rtx 4090 mobile too lol.
I think fatshark just cant manage to make their games truly stable and its nothing to do with the GPUs in general.
Playing on my RX 7600 and still running smooth. Default valve proton, ProtonGE, Wayland, Ntsync, doesn’t make any difference.
I am sorry to say but I still think it is a driver issue with RDNA4 gpus. So another way to troubleshoot would be to find an RDNA3 gpu if you can and try with that. That’s the only way to be sure. But there is nothing different going on in the OS, the game or Proton.
