New AppStore in developpement

Hey Bazzite devs and other bazzite enthousiaste.

As said in the last annoncment post, a new appstore is being developped by GloriousEggroll !

I am very exited for this because gnome AppStore is slow. If i’m right, you can find the first version on his github : GitHub - GloriousEggroll/flatpost: Desktop Environment agnostic flatpak-only shop gui.
This looks promising and I’m hyped for the future.
I just wanted to ask I it will be with libawaita theme ?

Thanks for your work !

But Gnome Software also allows you to perform all updates from a single UI: the Flatpaks, the layered RPMs and the major updates. That’s the benefit of it. It’s a one stop shop.

This new appstore is only for Flatpak.. so we will then have 2 “stores” ?

Based on the screenshots:
I like it shows “Installed” and “Updates”. Worried a bit about “Repositories”. I’m so happy I’m not on Ubuntu having to deal with repositories!

Also: it looks like this will replace both Gnome Software (at least for Flatpaks) and Flatseal! That’s really nice.

Will this also make its way to Bluefin?

Users don’t need to care about updates as they happen in the background. No need to use gnome software/discover to update

OK but they can do that now.
Auto update doesn’t work for everyone, as reported on this forum. But hopefully that changes with uupd.

The update tab of GNOME software is removed in Bluefin afaik, is that not the case in Bazzite?

I think the problem IMO with things like GNOME software is the legacy-ness of it and having to deal with legacy packages like debs and rpms in the codebase might not make for a very fast nor optimized app store
