Legion Go Lock Up and Freezing

Not sure if its just my Legion Go, but in the past month I have had to force shutdown the machine due to it freezing randomly, it will usually do it if I suspend while in a game, and then resume play, after 10 or 15mins it will just lockup, it feels like its a memory leak of some kind and not related to heat or power.

If I shut the game down after resuming, then start it back up, the lockup doesn’t happen.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this behaviour?

I was on an old BIOS version, and I just updated to a the latest version, so I will see if that fixes it.

Have you tried updating the BIOS from within Bazzite? How to Update the BIOS on the Lenovo Legion Go from Bazzite (No Windows Required) - Bazzite Documentation

As mentioned above, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version.

Hey did you ever get this fixed? I’m having this issue now playing The Division 2.

No, I went and wiped the machine, setup Windows 11, got everything installed, played for around an hour, didnt have any lockups but was discgusted on how crap it is to use Windows on these devices, so I reinstalled the latest build of Bazzite and have not had enough time to play to see if the issue was still there.

So no, I dont know if its fixed, but I do know that Winblows…well blows on these Steam Deck like devices

Completely agreed. I only run Bazzite on mine. I’ll play for like 10-15 mins and then it freezes and reboots itself after 15 seconds. So frustrating. Can’t find any crash logs either. I have already spoken to Lenovo so I’m gonna send it in but I wanted to see if I could figure it out first! Thanks for the reply

I don’t think its a hardware thing, mine was doing the same thing, but windows was fine, no freezing, and so far Bazzite is also okay, maybe try reinstalling Bazzite first.

Already tried on a fresh SSD. Completely fresh install, but the same problem. Very frustrating.

Have install the latest BIOS as well?

Yes I installed it as soon as it became available. The game starts to lose FPS, gradually until it’s going 1 fps and then shuts down. CPU/GPU both stay at 68-70 degrees.

I have the same issue with the Asus Rog Ally X, but it started happening after I updated. I didn’t know about the command to roll back, so I formatted and installed it two more times, realizing the problem is with the current ISO. Just to be sure, I tried Windows and a bunch of games, and the problem is definitely the latest update Bazzite.

You could be right, my LeGo started to do it again, feels like some sort of memory leak, if I quit the game before it happens, and startup again, the problem seems to go away, the issue is worse if I suspend during gameplay.

I’ve now thrown SteamFork on it and will test over the next few days, but so far it hasn’t done it, I prefer Bazzite as it has all the additions for the LeGo but the random lockups are not great, I also noticed the WiFi also does not require locking to a base station to fix game streaming issues, this appears to be a Fedora thing.

Okay, so far SteamFork has not locked up in the same manner, will test for another couple of days using in the same manner as Bazzite, basically running a game, for about 30mins to an hour, suspending, putting on charge, and pick up and continue the game around 24hrs later, as this is generally how i use the device, if no lockups have occurred I will reinstall Bazzite, and do the same thing, this to me will tell me if it is indeed and issue with Bazzite, as this could very well be an upstream issue from Fedora, the release cadence is pretty fast with this project, almost daily there is some sort of update, so this may be fixed already, but I will test anyway, definitely prefer Bazzite, just having access to HHD is a game changer in my eyes, and using Arch is too far from my wheel house, I have always used Debian, but Fedora is not much harder to work with, but Arch…ugh

Today I installed Bazzite and the problem is still present. I would like to know how to download an official ISO prior to the latest update of AMD Mesa. I would be very grateful for any help with that.

Looks like they dont host old images, I assume the ISO is over written as the release is updated, I assume they would prefer you to just rebase it:

Thank you for the help.

All good, let me know how you go, maybe roll back one version at a time:
