Language Packs & Fonts

Hi guys!

I hate to make my fist post a rant, but the fact that I’m posting means I like bluefin enough (in the 3 days Ive had it), that I think it worth doing.

Is there any way to remove unwanted language packs and Fonts? Preferably in bulk.

Its seriously not supposed to take that long to scroll through all the Noto fonts - There has to be a better way to handle this. I also don’t understand why I can’t uninstall pinyin or other language specific fonts/interfaces. Languages need to exist at the same level as optional extensions and plugins - at worst lock down the language that was selected at install as immutable, but for the rest… meh.

From a design perspective, is there really no way to link the languages and fonts to the selection of language during system install?

Yeah we’re stuck with what we have: Proposal : curate the list of installed fonts. · Issue #2425 · ublue-os/bluefin · GitHub

Would love to find a solution to this that isn’t everyone on a non-english script waking up to removed fonts.

Right I can imagine. Without having stored something like a fallback font thats familiar to the user, you’re going to shoot your user in the foot.

I’m not nearly a strong enough dev to be able to contribute at code level, but I’ll give potential solutions some thought.

We’re working on it just had to deal with releases and stuff.

This is the worst thing about Bluefin right now IMO, we want to fix it.
